On Saturday our Youth Group will host homeless youth from Ryan’s House on Whidbey Island along with a group of youth from Northern Lights Church in a weekend of worship, mission, and fun. For some of the homeless youth this will be both their first time off Whidbey Island and their first time visiting a church. The day is planned to include a service project working at a community garden in Shoreline, a worship event, a movie, and of course, lots of food! The Ryan’s House group and our own youth will spend the night at St. Dunstan’s Church and then will join us for the Blessing of the Animals service at 10:00AM on Sunday. I love the idea that there will be young people whose first experience of church is the celebration of St. Francis and the Blessing of the Animals service!
This event is a great example of giving thanks to God by giving generously to others. This event will continue to build relationship between St. Dunstan’s Church’s youth program, the Ryan’s House youth, and the youth of Northern Lights Church. Each of these relationships is an opportunity to encounter God in one another.
I am grateful to Mary E. Pacher and her team of dedicated leaders who make sure our youth have a great program and great events like this one.
Yours in Christ,
