In August, St. Dunstan’s Church expanded our Tent City 3 meals program to offer a meal right here at St. Dunstan’s Church every Tuesday night. The meal is free, served on real plates, buffet style, with a varied, delicious, and healthy menu. Our guests are a mix of parishioners, neighbors, people who need a free meal, and people who are looking for good company.
The Community Dinner at St. Dunstan’s Church is a self-supporting ministry. Your contributions in the jar by Peppi (the statue of the little German guy) and the donations at the door, along with the generous donations from Safeway stores and the ministry of all those who help set up, cook, and clean up, allow us to feed people for about $1 a meal. We are using the gifts God has given us – our time, our money, our connections – to give thanks to God in a powerful and meaningful way.
When we started this ministry, we hosted about 40 people. Over the weeks, the numbers grew to 50, 60, and 70 people. This week we fed 90 people! This is a gracious (and delicious) way to Pay it Forward!
You can pay it forward with us by helping to prepare the meals, set up, or clean up. Meal preparation starts every Tuesday at 3:00PM in the kitchen at the church. We serve the meal from 5:30 to 7:00. Cleanup is done by 8:30. Come and cook, or just have dinner with us.
Yours in Christ,
