The St. Agnes Guild runs several fund raising events every year, with the biggest being the Canterbury Faire. Then, in December, they choose the organizations they will support with grants. Last week at their December meeting, the Guild members voted on where to send the money they raised. This is a big event and a gratifying time for the members of the guild. The annual grant giving meeting is always an important social event too! I asked Lu Gardiner, who is president of the Guild, what organizations they had supported and she sent me this wonderful list:
Saint Agnes Outreach gave to 10 organizations, which included a monthly contribution to Tent City and 2 individuals. Our goal this year was to include more local organizations. Our outreach included Ryan’s House on Whidbey Island (Mary Pacher’s youth group works with them), Hopelink, and Union Gospel Mission. We gave a total of $3,322.40 for our Outreach. In order to accomplish this for Outreach and other projects that may need our support, Saint Agnes sponsors fundraisers throughout the year such as the Harvest Dinner, Canterbury Faire Holiday Bazaar, and Shrove Tuesday/Mardi Gras Dinner. Saint Agnes also supports the kitchen by buying supplies for Sunday Coffee Hour and the kitchen.
