This spring our Youth Group, under the leadership of Mary E. and Mary O. Pacher, will be hosting a 30 Hour Famine event at St. Dunstan’s Church. I say “hosting” because Mary has arranged for youth groups from three other churches to participate. St. Augustine’s in the Woods Episcopal Church on Whidbey Island, St. Hilda-St. Patrick Episcopal Church in Edmonds, and Northern Lights International Ministry Church will join our own youth in this excellent outreach project. You can find out the specifics about this in Mary’s article.
You will hear a lot more about the event over the next several weeks. What I want to celebrate here is the faithful stewardship of our young people seeking out ways to give thanks to God by participating in this global outreach ministry, and by welcoming several local churches to join in the event.
You make a living by what you get; you make a life by what you give.
I saw this quote on Facebook last week and it really captures my feeling about this youth event. Jesus said something very much like this: Put your treasures in heaven, for where your treasures are, there your heart will be also. (Luke 12:34, Matthew 6:21)
Yours in Christ,
