This coming Saturday, December 7th, our Youth Group members will travel up to Whidbey Island. We will deliver the bicycles that we received from Greater Seattle Cares to the teens of Ryan’s House. This trip is part of our young people’s commitment to Ryan’s House, and to be active in outreach projects that will benefit others.
The day is planned, and it will be awesome. We are having a Christmas party and lunch with several of the homeless teens and the families who are hosting them. The bikes will be given to the teens, and there will also be gifts from organizations on the island. A car dealership in Oak Harbor, the Rotary Club, and a church on the north end of the island have all contributed gifts for the teens. Many people have worked hard to make this day a happy one and to make a difference in the lives of these wonderful young people of Ryan’s House.
A special thanks goes to the people of St. Augustine’s in the Woods, the Episcopal Church on the island. They have generously offered us the use of their beautifully decorated church, which is where we will hold our Christmas party. This is the same church that hosted us on our mission trip last July. Their warmth and generosity are greatly appreciated.
We can all be very proud of our young people at St. Dunstan’s. They are learning firsthand the importance of sharing and giving to others. They will spend all day Saturday making a difference and helping others. God bless them.
