There is so much energy in the air these days at St. Dunstan’s Church. Last Sunday we held our Kickoff for the fall season and enjoyed a wonderful Ministry Fair and Parish picnic. Parents signed children up for both Sunday School and Youth Group, and other ministries also had people signing up and getting involved.
The first day of Sunday School is this Sunday, and our teachers are also meeting this Sunday after the worship service to make plans for the year. We are blessed with a terrific team of teachers who provide a wonderful caring, loving, and learning environment for our children. We are also blessed and grateful for the joy of working with your children. It promises to be a great year, and we invite you to become involved. Do you have a special story or talent that you would like to share with our children? Perhaps you would like to help out with an outreach project they are doing during the year or with our annual Christmas Pageant. You are most welcome to be a part of our program, and if this is something that interests you, please let me know.
Our Youth Group meets this Sunday evening for the first time this fall. We will be making plans for the year and discussing activities that we want to take part in. I was at the monthly Christian Education Director’s meeting up at the Diocesan House this past Monday and there was a lot of discussion on how to provide opportunities to get our youth involved with each other. We at St. Dunstan’s have been doing this for the past two years and will continue to expand our horizons and find ways to work with youth from other churches. As our youth make their plans for outreach, learning, and fun, we will be looking at ways that we can work with other youth and also how we can be involved within our own community. I invite you to be a part of what we will be doing. Perhaps you would like to make a dinner for one of our Sunday evening meetings, be a chaperone on an outing with our youth, be a volunteer driver to one of our events, or help in some other way. You are invited to be a part of our program and be involved with our young people.
I look forward to this coming year with our children and young people, and I thank all of you for your support for our programs.
