On behalf of the members of St. Dunstan’s Youth Group, I want to thank all of you who contributed to our 30 Hour Famine outreach fundraising last Sunday. We collected $276, and we are on our way to reaching our goal of $2,000. You can check our progress on the thermometer chart that is on the wall just inside the door to the Parish Hall. The money we collect will be sent to World Vision and be used for feeding hungry and starving children throughout the world. The fundraising is one part of the 30 Hour Famine experience and an important part. Our youth will be fasting for 30 hours on Friday and Saturday, April 17th and 18th, and they will share that hunger experience with their friends from the other churches who will be staying with us at St. Dunstan’s.
Plans are in the works for a wonderful worship service and “Songs of Praise” sing-a-long on Friday night which will be led by the youth and leaders from Northern Lights International Ministry Church. Each one of the participating church youth groups will be leading important activities which we will all take part in. We will be learning about what it is like in parts of the world where children are starving and living outside in the cold. Saturday morning our youth from St. Dunstan’s will lead a prayer service, enjoy music and songs, and we’ll have more activities. Later, we will leave to spend most of the day on our outreach project. We’ll return to the church in late afternoon on Saturday, and break our fast with a community dinner. It promises to be a fun, hardworking, and meaningful weekend for everyone involved.
For the next few weeks you will continue to see members of our youth group at the table in the Parish Hall. Please stop by, ask them about the 30 Hour Famine, and contribute financially to our program. Our young people are doing an amazing job putting all this together, and I am very proud of them. They are doing God’s work, and they are loving it.
Thank you again for your support. It means so much to all of us. Together we will attain our goal of reaching $2,000 and know that children will feel our love and caring. God bless you for being a part of this event.
