Each week I issue an invitation to share in communion at the Lord’s Table: Where ever you are in your spiritual journey, you are welcome here in this place, and you are welcome at this table. There is food enough for all. Come an be fed. We have been living into that invitation by feeding all who come on Tuesday evenings for our Community Dinners, by taking meals to Tent City 3, and by providing space for three new 12 step groups.
We are building a bigger table, feeding more people, providing space for life changing ministries like AA and Al-Anon. We are welcoming new people to participate in our worship, in our feeding programs, and in our Sunday School programs. And through all of this, we have discovered something wonderful. When we feed others, we are fed ourselves in the ways that are most important.
There is no question that these are difficult times in our families, in our communities, and in the world. These are difficult times, and we need one another more than ever. As Christians, we know that our struggles are shared. We seek to bless one another with generosity, compassion, forgiveness, and casseroles because we know that God works through each of us, and all of us together, to respond to suffering in our world. We cannot escape from suffering, but we can love and bless others in the midst of their suffering and ours. When we embrace the love of God by loving others we find that even in suffering we can find peace, joy, hope, and love. Come and be fed.
Yours in Christ,
