St. Dunstan’s Church has a deep love of classical hymnody and religious music. We have been blessed with many fine musicians, and countless musical offerings that have lifted our hearts and inspired our worship. On Sunday we welcome Susanna Valleau into her new role as Music Director of St. Dunstan’s Church. I am confident that Susanna’s abundant gifts will be a new blessing in our long history of great worship music.
Susanna’s goals begin with excellent music and worship, but they go beyond that as well. We are exploring new relationships with other music groups and communities and looking for ways to build up the music program of our congregation. We can look forward to interesting guest musicians, especially for festival services, and to Susanna’s fresh take on classical music offered to God.
We have an opportunity to get to know Susanna beyond our worship. She will be giving a recital on June 14th, at 3:00PM, at the Green Lake Church of Seventh-day Adventists. On her web site Susanna describes the recital like this:
Susanna Valleau will present a solo recital on the 2012 94-rank Burton K. Tidwell Organ. Susanna will play an eclectic, accessible hour-long program for all ages, including works by Charles Villiers Stanford, Frank Bridge, Richard Purvis, Pietro Yon, Powell Weaver, Robert Elmore, Daniel Gawthrop, and Josef Rheinberger.
Yours in Christ,
