As we approach the journey we call Lent, I will share some rather random thoughts with you. We are fortunate to have two priests who will present a series on creating a Rule of Life, and who will explore what that means. I can’t emphasize enough what an asset this will be for each member of the congregation who participates. Over the next weeks there are points I want to share with you, the first two are:
RELIGION: is a set of beliefs passed down to us through the church, as well as the traditions we live by.
SPIRITUALITY: this is your experience of Faith, this is something you create and live by, your commitments, in relationship to the Sacred Other. Both are important aspects of the Journey and into the Sacred. Over the next few weeks I want to share with you techniques you can use in exploring your spiritual life. But remember all of us are BODY, MIND, and SPIRT, each aspect of us is equally important as long as we live in this realm of being. The Sacred One is who breathes you, you are part of the Sacred. So all of that metaphysical realty leads us to the next point. First we each must make a place for the Sacred within our being, a quiet space where we can listen to the Holy, it is not hard to do. To begin over this next week take a pencil and paper and write what is in your heart, in your spirit. This is your CREED. There is no right or wrong here, this is you in relationship to God.
This is your expression of you and what you truly believe. Always remember to ask for the protection and inspiration of the Spirit of God, in the name of Jesus.
Next week we will take a look at what no longer is working for us in this Journey into and with the Sacred.
I am your bro. John, O.C.P.
